Kim, read the comment section of my blog yesterday and you'll Hear :o) granny giving me the dickens about when to take up onions..it seems to me that yours sound like what they are supposed to do when ready.
After watering, some of them perked back up. Some are naturally ready, the rest were just neglected. All in all, it will be a fair harvest that will make delicious additions to our meals.
