Iroquois Muskmelon

I finally had a ripe Iroquois muskmelon and some Blue Lake pole beans. It slipped easily from the vine and had a slight sweet aroma. It weighed a whopping 7 pounds, 5.8 ounces!
I sliced into it...beautiful! Aroma...delicious. Taste...blah...watery...such a disappointment. There were bad rains for two days leading up to it ripening. Such bad timing :(

  1. I've had two Hale's Best cantaloupe, and even the one that was picked over ripe was tasteless. I think I'm getting all future ones from the farmer's market.

  2. They're so hit or miss, aren't they.

  3. I was so disappointed. They took up so much space in my garden. I'm on the fence whether or not I'll try melons again next season. Perhaps just the Minnesota Midget. I can use my large container again and use the garden space to try something else. I would like to try to grow zucchini. I do love zucchini bread....
